Christian Louboutin has appointed Jaden Smith as the luxury footwear brand’s first-ever Men’s Creative Director.
Smith, well known as a musician, actor, and fashion entrepreneur, will oversee all aspects of the men’s line at the House—footwear, leather goods, and accessories. He is also tasked with shaping the brand’s visual identity for menswear, including campaigns, immersive experiences, and events.
Christian Louboutin’s men’s business, which already accounts for around 24 per cent of the company’s global revenue, is expected to gain a fresh burst of innovation under Smith’s direction.
In statements, Smith expressed both excitement and admiration. He has said the role is “one of the biggest honours” of his life, acknowledging the pressure to honour the brand’s legacy while putting his own stamp on it.
Christian Louboutin himself praised Smith’s cultural sensibility, creativity, and openness. He noted that from their first encounter in 2019, Smith displayed qualities that resonated with the Maison’s values.
This appointment marks a milestone for Christian Louboutin. It’s not only the first time someone besides Louboutin himself has taken the creative reins in men’s design, but also an indication of broader shifts in luxury fashion: a growing emphasis on multi-disciplinary creativity, youth influence, and cross-sector branding (fashion, music, lifestyle).
Smith’s background—his streetwear label, MSFTSrep Infinity; previous collaborations; his presence in culture beyond fashion—positions him uniquely to bring a new energy to Louboutin’s menswear line.
